A 13″ MacBook Pro may be getting new life.

DylanDKT’s Twitter continues to follow up on Mark Gurman’s speculation about the launch of a new, low-end MacBook Pro with some interesting information. According to the report that the present M1 MacBook Pro 13 will be replaced by a new variant of the 14 inch MacBook Pro powered by an M2 chip.
It’s not clear if those new versions will come with the identical Liquid Retina XDR display or keep an LED display that’s standard on this model. Dylan states that this model is expected to “have the same design as the M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro 14,” however it’s not clear whether this includes the top notch as well as the ports. It’s likely that it signifies that the Touch Bar will be gone.
Although the M2 processor will technically be more advanced that M1 Pro and the M1 Pro and M1 Max that are currently in the 14-inch Pro however, it will be slower, and likely more so. This could cause some confusion among clients but the difference in price will help to clarify things.
Dylan states that the new model will be receiving “a slight price increase over the previous generation,” that starts at $1,299. This means that the new model will be at least $500 lower than the current 14-inch entry-level Pro.
Dylan believes that the laptop will be available in the second quarter of 2022 along with his “redesigned M2 MacBook (Air),” which is likely to feature new designs as well as the M2 processor.
